Scott N. Alperin is a respected estate planning, asset protection and wealth management attorney based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He has practiced law for over 24 years and has extensive experience working with families and businesses.

Scott is an Estate Planning Law Specialist*, which is an American Bar Association-accredited designation for attorneys who have demonstrated a high level of professionalism, skill and knowledge in the area of estate planning law. He is also an Accredited Estate Planner®, a designation bestowed upon estate planning professionals who have the highest standards of knowledge, skill, ethical conduct and experience in estate planning. He is also an accredited attorney agent for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Tom Mueller

Senior Counsel

After enjoying 21 year career as a Circuit Court Judge in Illinois, Tom moved to Norfolk, Virginia in 2016 and re-engaged in the practice of law in the areas he most enjoyed as an attorney being becoming ajudge, namely Estate Planning and Real Estate. He always found great satisfaction in knowing that he was helping individuals and families build toward their futures and plan responsibly. Tom graduated from the University of Wisconsin – Madison in 1979 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science. Tom then attended Loyola University of Chicago School of Law where he received his J.D. in May 1982. He began his legal career as an Assistant State’s Attorney prosecuting felonies and misdemeanors in both Adult and Juvenile Courts. He then spent 10 years in private practice at Lindner, Speers, and Reuland, P.C. in Aurora, Illinois. During his years in private practice, Tom was very involved in the community, chairing and/or serving on numerous non-for-profit Boards as well as being a frequent speaker at local and State Bar association seminars.

Jennifer Atkinson

Associate Attorney

Jennifer Atkinson focuses her practice on elder law, estate planning, and estate & trust administration. She received her B.A. degree from the College of William and Mary, and her J.D. degree from the College of William and Mary Law School. Ms. Atkinson is accredited before the Department of Veterans Affairs and also has experience handling guardianships, special needs planning, and a variety of business matters such as incorporation, operating agreements, shareholder agreements, succession planning, asset purchases, sales and purchases of businesses as well as business related litigation such as shareholder disputes, corporate dissolution actions, and business bankruptcy. Her favorite aspect of her work is providing her clients with peace of mind.

Stephen Haynes

A graduate of Regent University’s School of Law, Stephen focuses on estate planning, elder law, probate and trust administration, real estate and business law. Firm Administrator

Since 2010, Tracey has helped our office run smoothly and efficiently. Aside from her daily tasks as the Firm Administrator, she helps our clients in the process of becoming homeowners and she excels in making the real estate transaction process as stress-free as possible. Outside of work, Tracey loves to be outdoors, camping, gardening and spending time with family and friends.​

Tiffany assists our estate planning department with daily tasks and enjoys the peace of mind her work creates for our clients. When she’s not helping our clients plan for the future, she is spending time with her two daughters, going to the beach, and planning events.

AshLee Brisendine

Real Estate Paralegal

Since 2010, AshLee has been helping to ensure that our clients have a smooth and enjoyable home buying and closing experience. She is also our Billing Coordinator here at Alperin Law PLLC. A graduate of Old Dominion University, she has a bachelor’s degree in Geography with a specialty in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). She is a Hampton Roads local who enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and three dogs, Titan, Dillian and Cali.

EmiLee Mahoney

Executive Assistant

For the past several years, EmiLee has been assisting with high-level administrative tasks that help our office run smoothly. She enjoys the fact that completing these tasks efficiently helps work toward our clients’ overall happiness with their experience here. She attended Tidewater Community College and received her Associates Degree in Administrative Support. When she’s not at the office she enjoys spending time with family and friends, shopping, and being outdoors.​

Joyce Elaine Elliott

Elder Care Coordinator

As an Elder Care Coordinator, Joyce is able to provide elder law counseling to our clients based in her real-world experiences in the healthcare field. Her goal is to help our clients navigate the healthcare system so they can continue to live a full life with the dignity and respect they deserve. When she’s not working with our clients she is gardening, boating and spending time with her grandchildren.

Calvin Alperin

After retiring from the Norfolk Redevelopment and Housing Authority, Calvin is enjoying his second career here at Alperin Law, helping our office run smoothly and ensuring clients are welcomed and comfortable. When he’s not here you’ll find him working in his yard or trying to keep up with his golden retriever, Max.

Marlita Shaw-Brown

Legal Assistant

Marlita assists our real estate department and also is head of our corporate department. She ensures deadlines are met and documents are prepared with accuracy. She prides herself on providing each and every client with exceptional customer service. When she is not responding to emails and returning phone calls, she enjoys spending time with her two young children Brayden and Brielle.​

Skyler B. Lucas

Skyler grew up in Chesapeake, Virginia and still considers herself to be a Great Bridge local even having been living out of state for so long. After high school, she moved to Maryland where she completed her Bachelor of Arts in History concentrating on Social and Cultural History at the University of Maryland, College Park. During her free time, Skyler enjoys hiking, yoga and spending time with her loved ones.

Michelle Davidson

Legal Assistant

Michelle was born in Charleston, SC and grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia. After high school she went to Tidewater Community College and completed A.A.S. in Paralegal Studies where she later went on to work as a Paralegal Intern for the local civilian Military and Defense Attorney, and Personal Injury Firm. Michelle assists in the Estate Planning department organizing documents to help clients with a smooth transaction of funding their trusts. During her free time, Michelle enjoys reading, walking the beach and spending time with friends and family.

David Ashe

Veteran and Social Security Disability Law

Compassion and understanding are at the core of how David approach the challenges that face his clients. If a person is held back by illness or injury, our society has wisely invested in social safety nets like social security and veteran disability. David brings a warrior’s commitment to fight for your benefits.

David grew up in Virginia Beach and graduated from Virginia Tech. After law school, he served as a judge advocate in the Marine Corps and planned to leave active duty in September 2001. When the 911 attacks took place, David spent several days in the bucket brigades at the site of the collapsed towers and shortly after, he returned to active duty for two more years. David remains active in the Marine Corps reserve, spending many years with NATO and was recently promoted to colonel. In addition to veteran and Social Security disability law, David has extensive experience in creditors rights representing debt collectors, debt buyers and financial institutions and can provide our clients key insights with regard to collection matters. David is married to Bethanie, an ICU nurse and they are raising their four children.
