On Friday, December 19, we gathered in our Virginia Beach office for what has become one of our favorite traditions: our annual holiday party. This year, the evening carried special meaning, because it also happened to coincide with a remarkable milestone: Scott’s parents, Calvin and Carole Alperin, celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.
From the moment guests arrived, the atmosphere felt equal parts celebratory and personal. We shared dinner, enjoyed plenty of laughter, and because Scott wanted to make the night especially festive, we welcomed a sommelier to guide us through an engaging, approachable wine experience. It was fun, interactive, and a perfect fit for the warm tone of the evening. The celebration culminated in a champagne toast honoring Calvin and Carole’s six decades of love, commitment, and perseverance.
What made the night even more memorable was that it truly became a family affair. Scott’s wife, brother and sister attended, along with his sister-in-law, his sister’s significant other, Scott’s children, and his niece, adding a layer of meaning that you could feel throughout the room. It wasn’t just a holiday gathering. It was a reminder of what we value most at Alperin Law & Wealth: connection, loyalty, and the kind of support that lasts a lifetime.
During the evening, Scott shared a few heartfelt reflections about his parents’ journey, how they came from limited means, and how they struggled and sacrificed to ensure their children had opportunities they themselves never had. He spoke candidly about how much of what he has been able to build is rooted in their sacrifices, encouragement, and steady belief in him. More than once, he looked around the room, at his family, and at the firm’s ever-growing “work family” and was visibly moved. It was one of those rare moments where gratitude isn’t a slogan; it’s something you can see and feel.
That theme, family, isn’t something we reserve for special occasions. It’s woven into the fabric of our culture.
